Helps with International Space Station Contact
at Stratford Academy
Wednesday, April 3, Stratford Academy in Macon communicated with the ISS. There is currently a video located at:
http://www.13wmaz.com/video/default.aspx?bctid=2275324117001&odyssey=mod
Although the Macon Club did not provide the actual communications to the ISS, it did help with technical evaluations, recommendations and put on a 2-Day "Stratford Radio Days" Special Event at the school in January that introduced many students to radio technology and allowed a number of students to talk to other hams using HF. The actual ISS contact was provided via tele-bridge by W6SRJ, the club call at Santa Rosa Community College in California.
The Macon Amateur Radio Club has been noted by some as being the oldest Amateur Radio Club in Georgia. There have been quite a few changes over the years, but we have grown and learned over the years and this is a wonderful club to be part of. We welcome all ham radio operators, whether membership is something you are looking for, or just to meet hams in your area. We strive to make our community better by offering our services and communications expertise to local EMA and Hospitals in the area. It feels really good to have some way to give back to our local community.
If this sounds like something you would be interested in, then come on down and see what we are all about in person. Check our meeting locations and times. If you have any questions, feel free to contact any of our members or officers by using the membership form to the right and we will try to help any way we can.
